You served your country honorably and you know what making sacrifices entails. Now, it’s time to get the benefits you’ve earned and the support only other veterans can offer.

We know how many questions you must have. From service-related medical issues, and VA claims to educational benefits. We’re dedicated to providing you with the answers you deserve!

Federal Benefit Programs

As a Veteran, there are many federal benefits available for qualified service members – some you might not even be aware of. The VFW wants to make sure you know and understand what your entitlements are and how to obtain them.

Health / Medical Issues

As a veteran, chances are you’ve been put in harm’s way more times than you can count. Now it’s time to find out more about the various environmental and occupational hazards you were exposed to during your military service.

VA Claims & Benefits

Imagine spending years wading through the bureaucratic red tape offered up by the VA only to find you’ve been denied a disability claim. Where do you turn? Don’t walk away in defeat. VFW understands the frustration associated with claims and that’s why our National Veterans Service (NVS) program was formed. VFW Service Officers have the expertise and guidance you need.

Benefits Delivery at Discharge

You’ve worked hard for your benefits. We’re here to help you understand them. In 2001, VFW launched its Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) program at military installations across the country. A cooperative initiative with the Pentagon and the Department of Veterans Affairs, BDD was established to assist service mem- bers departing from the military. Pre-discharge claims representatives at each BDD site help wade through the paperwork for veterans seeking VA entitlements. These representatives also discuss education and medical benefits and VA home loans.

Unmet Needs

The VFW Unmet Needs program provides a lifeline for service members who run into unexpected financial difficulties as a result of deployments or other military related hardships. Those who’ve been active duty within the past 36 months could qualify. By providing urgent grants to military families, VFW Unmet Needs is able to see that military families are able to cope during an already emotionally strenuous time.
